England will be without the services of their middle-order batsman Joe Root in the beginning of the One-Day International (ODI) series against India until after the birth of his first child.
Root, 26, who scored 491 runs in the recent 4-0 Test series defeat at the hands of India, has opted to stay with partner Carrie Cotterell, who will be entering the final stages of pregnancy, according to Guardian.
Following a Christmas break after the conclusion of five-match Test series, England are scheduled to arrive in India on Thursday for the ODI series which happens to be the possible date of arrival of the baby.
The first ODI in Pune takes place on Sunday, January 15, followed by matches in Cuttack on January 19 and Kolkata on January 22. The ODI series will be followed by three T20s.
