The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will felicitate departing limited-overs team skipper MS Dhoni during the third One-Day International (ODI) against England at the Eden Gardens on January 22.
“Dhoni will be felicitated in a fitting manner and we are planning to have it done by celebrated former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar. However we are yet to finalise the details,” a CAB official was quoted in a report by Indian Express.
The 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman stepped down as India’s ODI and T20I captain recently. Test captain Virat Kohli has been appointed as Dhoni’s successor.
Dhoni, arguably India’s finest captain, scored an unbeaten 68 off 40 deliveries in his last match as captain of India A side playing a warm-up match against England in Mumbai on Tuesday. His blitz guided India A to 304/5, although his side lost the game.
The first ODI of the three-match series starts on Sunday at Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.
